NEW MATERIAL:A 5-fluoro-1H-benzimidazole derivative shown by the formula I (R<1> and R<3> are the same or different lower alkyl; R<2> is lower alkoxy) and its salt. EXAMPLE:2-[ ( 3, 5-Diomethyl-4-methoxy-2-pyridyl )methylsulfinyl ]-5-fluoro-1H- benzimidazole. USE:Having antiulcer action, useful as a remedy for ulcers of digestive organs such as gastric ulcer, duodenal ulcer, etc. Especially having both inhibitory actions on acid secretion and protecting action of cells, suppressing ulcer factors both from attacking factors and protecting factors, having neither toxicity nor side effects and having long duration time of inhibitory action on acid secretion. PREPARATION:For example, a compound shown by the formula II (R<3> is H, methyl, methoxy, etc.,) is reacted in a solvent such as water, formic acid, etc., in the presence of an oxidizing agent preferably at -70 deg.C - room temperature to give a compound shown by the formula I. |
