Apparatus for conveying and treating crop comprises a rotor (11) formed by support means (8) and a plurality of outwardly extending crop engaging elements (10) mounted on the support means (8). The rotor (11) rotates in a sense such as to convey crop upwardly and rearwardly over the rotor beneath a housing (15) extending at least around part of the front half of the rotor. A further crop engaging device (9) cooperates with the rotor to effect treatment of crop, and is mounted to be stationary relative to the rotor in normal operation. The further crop engaging device (9) comprises an array of projections which project into the crop flow in such a manner as to overlap with the outer periphery of the rotor (11) and to intermesh with the elements (10) of the rotor (11) without contact. Each crop engaging element (10) of the rotor is resiliently yieldable, and has a principal plane which traverses the general direction of crop flow.
