发明名称 LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY DEVICE
摘要 PURPOSE:To improve the position accuracy in a noncolored area by applying the orientation processing to the inner surface of one substrate so that the rubbing direction in the prescribed small area orthogonally intersects with those on any surfaces other than said area and disposing a polarization plate so that the polarization direction can orthogonally intersects with the rubbing direction in the prescribed small area. CONSTITUTION:Substrates 11 and 12 are arranged so as to face each other, and in their vicinities a sealing agent is interposed, whereby said substrates are made into a cell. A liquid crystal including bicolor element is sealed in the cell. The orientation processing is applied to the inner surfaces of both substrates 11 and 12. In the substrate 12 the rubbing direction in the prescribed small area 12a and those on any surfaces other than the small area 12a are set to the direction of an arrow a1 and that of an arrow 2a orthogonally intersecting with the arrow a1, respectively. The polarization plate 13 takes the direction of an arrow b2 for the polarization direction. On the inner surface of the substrate 12 a liquid crystal molecule follows directions of arrows a1 and a2, and accordingly the color element also follows said direction. In terms of a display surface 20, areas other than the noncolored area 20a corresponding to the small area 12a display in colors. On the other hand, the array mode of molecules is changed in impressing a voltage, and accordingly light absorption will not arise, and the entire display surface 20 becomes noncolored.
