<p>PURPOSE:To improve the workability and safety in the operation of an arc furnace by holding a furnace body in an upright state and blowing gas and powder into the furnace through a nozzle and tilting the furnace body so as to bring the nozzle under a molten metal surface in an oxidation and heating-up period. CONSTITUTION:Scrap 6 is charged into the arc furnace and electricity is conducted to make arc heating; at the same time, pulverized coal and oxygen- contg. gas are blown through the nozzle 4 into the furnace and are burned. Burner heating is executed as well. The furnace inside 1 is tilted backward to immerse the nozzle 4 under the sill level, i.e., the molten metal surface of a molten metal 7 in the stage of transferring into the oxidation and heating-up period. The pulverized coal and gaseous N2, etc. are blown through the nozzle 4 to execute C-injection. Part of FeO in slag 8 is reduced to Fe and recovered by blowing of the pulverized coal; at the same time the slag 8 is foamed by the formed gaseous CO, by which the efficiency of arc heating is improved.</p> |
