<p>PURPOSE:To simplify the construction of a speed reduction gear to be installed between the engine, designed originally for a car, and a driven member by furnishing a connecting means for takeout of the power at one end of the cam shaft. CONSTITUTION:When a four-cycle engine 1 designed for car is used in a light airplane and begun revolving, the torque of crank shaft 3 is transmitted to a large dia. sprocket 10 via a small dia. sprocket 5 and a timing belt 11 so as to rotate the cam shaft 8 in half the revolutions relative to revolving crank shaft 3. This large dia. sprocket 10 is to mount a propeller 2 with the aid of mounting bolts 12 and also serve as a connecting means for takeout of the power, and thus the propeller 2 will also rotate in half the revolutions. Thus the construction of a speed reduction gear to be interposed between engine and driven member can be simplified or even omitted.</p> |
