PURPOSE:To surely fix optical fibers in an extremely short period by injecting a low refractive index acrylic resin of UV curing type to the periphery of an already cured high refractive index acrylic resin and optical fiber bundles and curing the same. CONSTITUTION:The UV curing type acrylic resin 2 having 1.52 refractive index is injected into a cavity 5 and a pair of the optical fiber bundles 1, 1' to be coupled are inserted into the cavity 5 so as to maintain 11mm space. UV light having a peak at 350nm wavelength is irradiated thereon to cure a core part 2. A molding tool 4 is then cut away by a cutter knife, etc. and the optical fiber bundles 1, 1' coupled at the core part 2 is put into a rubber mold 6 for forming clad by opening slots 7, 7' for insertion. The UV curing acrylic resin 3 having 1.48 refractive index is filled therein and UV light is irradiated from the periphery to cure the clad part 3. Finally, the mold 6 is removed and the star coupler is obtd. |
