PURPOSE:To remarkably simplify the means for applying a voltage by using a near-by conductor to apply a voltage to an exhaust tube the electric potential of which is approximately the middle between the electric potentials of two luminous tubes. CONSTITUTION:A high-frequency power supply 1 is constituted of a transistor inverter where, for example, two transistors 12 are excited and oscillated by the feedback windings 16 of an output transformer 15 which consists of a leakage transformer. The current level of an electric-discharge lamp 3 is controlled by this leakage inductance. When the transistor inverter of the power supply 1 oscillates and a high frequency voltage is applied to the lamp 3, a voltage is applied near an exhaust tube 36 through a near-by conductor 4 and as the result a luminous tube located between the exhaust tube 36 and an electrode 3b either becomes readily discharge or begins to slightly discharge. Therefore, a greater part of the output voltage of the output transformer 15 is applied to the other luminous tube, thereby making the lamp 3 discharge. |
