The dust collecting unit for use with a rotating disc (3) is for cutting diamonds (2). It comprises an upwardly extending wall (5) which is arranged around the disc perimeter and has at least its inner surface provided with dust retaining material, pref. filter cloth (6). - Through this cloth, air passes due to the centrifugal flow set-up by rotation of the disc. This material (6) may be arranged on the inner surface of a perforated wall (5) etc. and may contain electro-statically charged fibres.
