The invention relates to transfer valves for gas tanks. This type of valve ensures the automatic filling of a low-pressure tank P1 by means of a high-pressure tank P2, by virtue of a valve body equipped with connections which lead to the two tanks, and a piston sliding in the valve body. According to the invention, the piston 9 has end sections A1, A2 inversely proportional to the reference pressures P1, P2. A stud 6 defines a non-return valve with the piston 9. If the pressure of the second tank falls below P1, the piston 9 moves towards the left, thereby opening the passage (restricted by the calibrated orifice 12). When the second tank exceeds its reference pressure P1, the piston 9 is pushed back towards the right and the non-return valve 6, 9 closes.
