The mattress base is intended for fitting in a bedstead to support a mattress. It comprises a rectangular frame (1,3,4) with parallel flat wavy springs (7) secured (8) with tension between the two long sides and a thin (e.g. 3 cm thick) layer of foam material (10) resting on the springs. - The frame consists of a, pref. wooden, outer frame (1) contg. a support frame (3) or support blocks for an inner frame (4) which has the springs secured to it, and consists of round or square-section metal members. A felt layer (9) may be interposed between the springs and the foam material and the latter may be covered with ticking (11).
