A traction-cable electric window for cars and similar vehicles. The traction-cable electric window of the invention is characterized in that, in order to support the glass of the window against tilting in the plane of the glass, provision is made for support arms which, seen in a direction perpendicular to the glass of the window, are arranged symmetrically in V fashion with respect to the section of cable which runs in the direction of displacement. The two support arms are connected by one end with a mechanical movement transmission connection in order to carry out a joint movement in opposite directions and they are supported in the stationary position, but in a rotary manner, in a stationary component. The support arms fit via their other ends into guide slots, grooves or the like which are joined securely to the glass of the window. However, a description is also given of examples in which this spatial arrangement has been reversed: toothed wheels, especially, are indicated as mechanical movement transmission connection of the support arms, but also shown is an illustrative embodiment with a scissor-type connection for the support arms.
