Mfr. of calcium aluminate(s) or pre-fused slags

The process consists of (a) charging an electric furnace with a homogeneous conglomerate contg. residual slags from prodn. of ferro-molybdenum and ferro-vanadium; (b) homogenising fluorspar or lime with the slags by means of a mixer; (c) adding aluminium in the form of granulated metal or as ferro-aluminium; and (d) tipping the furnace by suitable devices. Before adding the mixt to the furnace, it is homogenised in a mixer to ensure intimate contact of the aluminium reducer with the other elements.
