PURPOSE:To make the realization of a high speed drive possible by increasing the force of a spring by changing the support state of a plate spring, by a method wherein electrostrictive elements are arranged near the support part of the plate spring and voltage is impressed on the electrostrictive elements according to the printing. CONSTITUTION:When a high speed drive is carried out by using the printing head in which electrostrictive elements 4 are arranged near the support part of a plate spring 3, voltage is impressed on the electrostrictive elements 4 according to the application of current to a coil by the indication of printing and the support state of the plate spring 3 is changed as given in Figure (b) 12. Thereby, the spring force of the plate spring 3 can be increased to raise the rigidity of the plate spring 3. Besides, when a wire returns, voltage is not impressed on the electrostrictive elements 4; therefore, the support state of the plate spring 3 becomes as given in Figure (c). Thereby, without receiving the influence onto the external dimensions of the printing mechanism and without linking to the increase of a power source capacity, the high speed drive thereof can be realized. |
