PURPOSE:To enable printed characters to be viewed squarely and contrive a lightweight compact construction, by dividing a housing into two bodies, and synchronously moving by a single driving means a ribbon cassette unit and a printing unit which are fitted to separate housings. CONSTITUTION:A housing is constituted of a boxlike front housing 10 and a boxlike rear housing 12, which are so fitted that they can be turned with the position of a platen shaft 16 as a center in the state of being opposed to each other through boxlike opening surfaces thereof. A ribbon cassette unit 27 is provided in the housing 10, while a printing unit 37 is provided in the housing 12, and the units 27, 37 are so fitted that they can be reciprocated in parallel to each other. Accordingly, the units 27, 37 fitted respectively to the separate housings can be synchronously moved by a single driving means, and reductions in cost and size can be contrived. |
