PURPOSE:To shorten the time required for making copying operations when the surface and back of an original are copied, by eliminating wasteful times during periods from the comple tion of surface copying to the start of back copying and from the completion of the surface copying to the time when copies are contained in an intermediate tray. CONSTITUTION:Two examples of copying operations are considered with a copying machine which is set to the both-side mode and recycle mode and has an intermediate tray having a containing capacity of fifty sheets, as follows. In the case of Example 1, the numbers of originals and copies to be taken are three and ten, respectively, and, in the case of Example 2, the numbers are twenty and five, respectively. When the copying operation of Example 1 is carried out, the surface sides and backsides of the three originals are continuously copied for ten sets at every set and the copies are contained in the intermediate tray 133, but, when the copying operation is made in this way, a copying operation inhibiting time which is required in conventional examples becomes unnecessary. In the same of Example 2, if surface copying is carried out at once on the twenty originals, the number of copies becomes 20X5=100 which cannot be contained in the tray 133. Therefore, by formula [(LXM)+N=the number of copies per set, where L=2 sets, M=2 times, N=1 set, each one of surface copy is taken from the originals and this one-copy operation is repeated twice and, after the copies are contained in the tray 133, back copying operations are carried out. After repeating the above-mentioned copying operations twice, the twenty originals are copied one each for the surface and back, and thus, copies of five sets each are completed. |
