<p>PURPOSE:To efficiently separate mercury from a water phase contg. the mercury by bringing a tertiary phosphine sulfide compd. as an extractant into contact with the water phase. CONSTITUTION:The mercury is separated from the water phase contg. the mercury or the water phase contg. the mercury and chloride ions by bringing the tertiary phosphine sulfide compd. expressed by the formula (e.g., triisobutyl phosphine sulfide or trioctyl phosphine sulfide) as the extractant into contact with said water phase. The extracted mercury in the solvent is further reverse extracted by using an aq. soln. of a thiocyanate or thiosulfate.</p> |
