PURPOSE:The titled yarn providing clothes having extremely improved drape properties and silhouette, improved appearance and touch, containing a specific ratio of fine particles having specfic average particle diameter, refractive index and true specific gravity, wherein the surface of the yarn is made rough. CONSTITUTION:Fine particles (e.g., barium sulfate, etc.) having <=1mu average particle diameter, <=2.0 refractive index and >=2.5 true specific gravityis added to a polyester during synthesis and the prepared polyester is spun and drawn by a conventional procedure to give yarn having >=4 wt.% fine particles and 1.425-1.60 specific gravity. Then, etching is carried out in a range of undevel oped orientation of polymer in the vicinities of the fine particles generally by processing of loss in weight with an alkali, so that the surface is made rough in such a way that craters preferably having <=10mu of the major axis in the fiber axis direction and 0.3-2mu of the minor axis in the direction perpen dicular to the fiber axis direction exist preferably in ratio of 5-100 craters/100mum<2>, to give the aimed yarn. |
