Mature human leukocyte interferon polypeptides were prepd. from microbes transformed with replicable expression vechicles. The DNA sequences coding for interferon polypeptides were operably linked with a tryptophan promoter sequence allowing expression of these polypeptides. A polypeptide contg. the amino acid sequence of mature human leukocyte interferon was not accompanied by any presequence and had no associated glycosyl residues. Interferon is known for treatment of viral infections and malignancies.
