Electrical distribution base transformer containing a vessel 6 provided with cooling vanes 28, characterised in that it is enclosed in a protective envelope linked to the transformer and consisting of a support collar 1 and of two half-shells 2, 3, one 2 of which is fixed and integral with the transformer and the other 3 of which is mobile about a hinge pin 25 acting as a shield in the open position and giving access to the elements and auxiliaries required for the use and maintenance of the transformer, the fixed half-shell containing perforated faces 32, 38 enabling air to flow along the said cooling vanes. <IMAGE>
