PURPOSE:To prevent the breakout of an ingot shell by moving the part, at a prescribed height, of a gate of a molten steel receiver facing the end face of the ingot in synchronization with a moving mold. CONSTITUTION:The part, at the prescribed height, of the longside gate 4 of the molten steel receiver 5 facing the end face of the ingot in parallel with the drawing direction A thereof is moved in synchronization with the moving mold 1 in the stage of continuously drawing the molten steel from the receiver 5 to a thin sheet shape by the moving mold 1 and forming the thin sheet. A wall shell 22' formed on the inside wall surface of the receiver 5 is, therefore, prevented from arriving at an ingot shell 21 for the height of the moving gate 4 even if said wall shell grows to the extent of capturing the thin ingot shell 21 formed on the surface of the mold 1. The restraining of the shell 21 by the shell 22' is thus obviated and the breakout of the shell 21 is prevented. |
