PURPOSE:To lighten a shock in changing a speed, by retarding an ignition timing of an engine in changing a gear stage of an automatic transmission, and thereby reducing an output of the engine. CONSTITUTION:A power of an engine 8 is transmitted through a belt-type continuous variable transmission 12 and a gear-type auxiliary transmission 14, etc. to driving wheels. In controlling an ignition timing in association with a speed change of the auxiliary transmission 14 by means of an engine control computer 334, it is first determined according to a gear stage signal SGW whether or not a shift change has been carried out. If YES, a retard quantity from a fundamental ignition timing is decided by using a data map or the like according to an actual speed change ratio and a throttle opening degree. Next, after a predetermined delay time has been elapsed, the fundamental ignition timing is so corrected as to effect retarding of an ignition timing corresponding to the above-mentioned retard quantity for a predetermined period of time, thus reducing an output of the engine. |
