PURPOSE:To obtain a photoreceptive member which excels in durability and mositure resistance and has no residual potential by matching optical band gaps at the boundary face between a surface layer and photosesitive layer constituted of amorphous materials. CONSTITUTION:The surface layer 103 is constituted of a-Si contg. at least one kind selected from O, C and N and further preferably either of H and halogen atoms X. The function to decrease the reflection of the incident light on a free surface 104 of the photoreceptive member and to increase the transmittivity is obtd.; in addition, various characteristics including the moisture resistance, continuous repetitive use characteristic, electrical voltage resistance characteristic, use environment characteristic and durability, etc. of the photoreceptive member are improved. The photoreceptive member is so constituted that the optical band gap Eopt possessed by the surface layer and the optical band gaps Eopt possessed by the photosensitive layer 102 directly provided with the surface layer are matched at the boundary face between the surface layer 103 and the photosensitive layer 102 or matched to the extent of substantially preventing the reflection of the incident light at the boundary face between the surface layer 103 and the photosensitive layer 102. |
