PRODUCTION OF SURFACE METALLIZED MOLDED ARTICLE OF POLYBUTYLENE TEREPHTHALATE RESIN

摘要

PURPOSE:To produce a surface metallized molded article of polybutylene terephthalate resin having superior heat resistance and mechanical characteristics by adding a specified amount of glass fibers and/or a filler to a thermoplastic polyester resin composition, molding the resulting composition, roughening the surface of the molded article under specified conditions and plating the roughened surface. CONSTITUTION:A thermoplastic polyester resin composition is composed of 99-55wt% polybutylene terephthalate resin and 1-45wt% polycarbonate resin and 1-120pts.wt. glass fibers and/or 5-250pts.wt. filler is added to 100pts.wt. of the composition. The resulting composition is molded and the molded article is successively treated with an acidic chromic acid soln. and with an alkali soln. to roughen the surface. The roughened surface is metallized by plating.
