In a device for determining and monitoring changes and the position of rotating shafts, a light ray generated by a ray emitter and extending outside the shafts and the parallel to the latter, is projected onto a rectangular prism at measurement positions which are offset by approximately 90<o> in the peripheral direction of the shafts. The prism reflects the ray to a ray receiver, which supplies signals that change when there is a change in the shaft position. In known devices for constantly monitoring the alignment of successive shafts the ray emitter and receiver are situated on one shaft and the prism on the other shaft. It is necessary to have costly transmission means which may be exposed to failures between the rotating and fixed parts of the apparatus for emitting signals through the ray receiver and for supplying it with energy. The invention is, however, characterized by the fact that the light rays (S, S') are emitted or received when the ray (S) passes through the prism by two separate pairs of emitter/receiver (ER pairs) each formed of a ray emitter (21, 22) and a ray receiver (91, 92) the position of which in a reference system (X, Y, M) is fixed. Costly transmission means which are exposed to breakdowns for the emitter signals and for supplying the ER pairs are thus superfluous. This device is also suitable for individual monitoring of the position of a rotating shaft and for constant monitoring of the alignment of successive shafts. |
