A machine tool for chip-removing machining of a camshaft has a workpiece holder and machining device for at least one cam with a cam surface and predetermined cam shape of the camshaft rotating in and/or with the workpiece holder. The machining device has a machining bit which bears against the cam to be machined in accordance with an in-feed or a contact pressure and which is arranged on a drive shaft and mounted with the latter, following the cam contour, in a tool holder. The machining bit has two edge-forming discs arranged with a mutual spacing in which an edge-forming control element is located. The edge-forming control element bears against the cam surface and is in turn controlled by the cam surface. <IMAGE>
