The process is for making webs or mats of foam material with layers of hot-melt adhesive. To do so, an unfoamed polymer matrix is laminated with a film of hot-melt adhesive and subsequently thermally foamed. During foaming, the surface area of the film of hot-melt adhesive increases according to the surface of the matrix. The webs or mats of foam material provided with a film of hot-melt adhesive and made in this way are suitable for direct lamination with further polymer films or foams, including those of materials which are not usually suitable for direct lamination with the foam material.
