TELEVISION SIGNAL TRANSMISSION METHOD AND APPARATUS

A method and apparatus for transmitting through a cable system television signals derived from a received frequency modulated MAC-type television signal. The digital part of the received MAC-type television signal is either transmitted in or converted to duo-binary form. The duo-binary MAC-type television signal is used to generate a frequency modulated vestigial sideband television signal which is transmitted through the cable system, the generated frequency modulated television signal having a smaller frequency deviation than the received MAC-type television signal. The transmitted signals are applied to an off-air receiver of a type suitable for receiving frequency-modulated MAC-type signals.
