<p>A recreational skateboard apparatus (1) made by placing reinforcing elements (24) in clips (44), and placing the reinforcing assemblies on a convex inner surface (38) of a first cavity (36) in a first mold half (32). A flat reinforcing sheet (22) with a decorated upper surface is placed on the rim of the first half (32). A second mold half (30) is placed on the sheet (22). The first cavity is filled with reaction injection molding material. The pressure of the reaction material bonds the material to an inner face (34) of the second mold half (30). After the mold halves are separated and the skateboard is removed, edges of the sheet are trimmed. The convex inner surface (38) of the first cavity (36) has nonskid patterns for forming the patterns (16) in the upper surface (2) of the skateboard. The concave inner surface of the second cavity (34) has flat central areas (88) for forming truck mounting areas on the surface of the sheet.</p> |
