A corner joint of an item of furniture, in which a corner piece converging from frame strips is connected to a vertical support leg, in which the support leg has an end section constructed as a peg of reduced cross-section which passes through the corner piece and by means of which a horizontal resting surface for resting the corner piece is formed. According to a design of the invention, a connecting piece 7, through which the peg 8 passes, is provided to enlarge the connecting surfaces between the support leg 1 and the corner piece 6. <IMAGE>
