In an apparatus for feeding a card or willow by means of two filling shafts, the fibre material can be delivered from above to a reserve shaft and it can be extracted from below from a feed shaft for supply to the card, whilst it can be extracted at the bottom from the reserve shaft and can be conveyed into the following feed shaft by means of an opener roller, and the feed shaft being provided at its upper end, for compacting its fibre material, with a device subjecting the fibre material to air flowing through, and in which apparatus an air channel is formed between the introduction of the stream of compacting air into the region of the opener roller and the entry of the stream of compacting air into the feed shaft. In order to improve the guidance of the air stream, the air channel opens into the feed shaft underneath the opener roller.
