The homing head (1) of a missile (F1, F2) contains a transmitting device which transmits a marking signal (in the form of electromagnetic waves) to the target after recognition of said target (T1). The homing head furthermore contains a receiving device which determines immediately after recognition of a target whether this target is already being illuminated with marking signals from another missile. If the target is being illuminated, the homing apparatus contained in the homing head is activated again in order to find an unilluminated target (T2). This prevents a multiple attack on the same target. <IMAGE>
