A thermodetector with melting element thus far could not be classified in "class 1", since the thermodetectors known thus far with melting element have been too slow and too inaccurate, and the steps to counteract these inconveniences have been too costly or too difficult to employ. In a thermodetector with melting element 1, a well- defined trigger temperature and time is achieved when the thickness of the solder is homogeneous and lies in the range of 0.05 to 0.25 mm, preferably 0.15 mm, and in the plates 2 which are part of the melting element 1 recesses 3 are arranged between the solder and the spring legs, so that the plates in this area form legs 4, which at the end of the spring legs are folded back to grasp the cross member 8. <IMAGE>
