PURPOSE:To obtain a material for a metallic mold for molding a plastic magnet with superior machinability, high dimensional accuracy, superior corrosion and wear resistances by adding specified amounts of Mn and other elements to a nonmagnetic austenitic Ni-Cr stainless steel. CONSTITUTION:An austenitic stainless steel contg., by weight, 0.3-1.5% C, <2% Si, 5-25% Mn, 1-15% Ni, 3-25% Cr, 0.5-5% Mo, 1-4% V and one or more among <0.2% S, <0.4% Pb, <0.3% Te and <0.01% Ca or further contg. 0.05-2% Cu is used as a material for a metallic mold for molding a plastic magnet. The steel has superior machinability as well as nonmagnetism necessary for a metallic mold for molding a plastic magnet, so a metallic mold having high dimentional accuracy can easily be manufactured. Since the steel has superior corrosion and wear resistances, the metallic mold has a long service life. |
