A DIRECTIVE ACCESS APPARATUS FOR A VIDEO DISC PLAYER

The system is for direct contact stylus tracking a video disc with spiral groove and using time positioning data for specific programme location on the disc. The method enables high speed sensor to be used without damage to either stylus or disc. An arm mechanism is used for tracking the disc and the stylus makes direct contact with the disc groove when the stylus head is lowered onto it. The disc is trancked by a stylus with motor control for directional drive of the stylus head and with further motor control for lifting and dropping the stylus head onto selected trancks.
