PURPOSE:To make it possible to automatically and easily adjust a printing head gap to a proper value suitable for the thickness of paper, by moving a link in a predetermined direction with the operation of a thickness detecting operation lever and rotating a head moving lever by the quantity to commensurate to moving quantity. CONSTITUTION:When a thickness detecting operation lever 25 is picked up to be pushed rearwardly, a link 20 is horizontally moved forward and a paper thickness detecting roller 19 is raised by the inclined part 20a of said link 20 and the rear side edge of the recessed part 20b of the link 20 is engaged with a head moving lever 12 which is, in turn, rotated in the clockwise direction and a printing head 10 advances toward a platen 13. The movement of the link 20 is stopped at a place where the roller 19 is pressed to the platen 13 through paper. Therefore, the head moving lever 12 is rotated by the quantity in proportion to the thickness of the paper 15 and locked at the position rotated by a detent lock mechanism 14 and the printing head 10 holds a proper gap with respect to the platen 13 suitable for the thickness of the paper 15. |
