An improved process for the prepn. of glycidyl polyether of polyphenol involves reacting one or more alkali metal salts of a polyphenol with one or more halogeno-2, 3-epoxyalkenes in an anhydrous, aprotic reaction medium. The process is performed in the presence of an effective amt. of a catalyst contg. a cross-linked organic polymeric support. The support used has catalytically active functional gps. coupled to it having a free valence of formula (I). R1, R2, R3, R4, R6 and R7 are each opt. the same H or 1-4C alkyl; and R5 and R8 are each opt. the same H, 1-12C alkyl or cycloalkyl, Ph, C6H5-C2-H2q-, or CqH(2q+d)-C6H4- (where q is 1-12); and n, m and p are each 1-10 and are opt. the same. |
