The device of the invention substantially reduces the workpiece changing times for the automatic production of elliptic bore or cylindrical surface areas and enables elliptic bore or cylindrical surface areas to be ground on roller bearing grinding machines, using the workpiece changing devices of these automatic machines. Before the machining operation takes place, the workpiece 1 is provided at one end with a manufacturing auxiliary surface which determines the final shape of the bore or cylindrical surface area profiles. The shape of the manufacturing auxiliary surface is transferred to the profile of the workpiece via a rocking guide shoe 9 which supports the workpiece 1 in conjunction with a fixed guide shoe 8 and a pressure lever 10. The workpiece 1 is held in engagement with the workpiece spindle 4 by a magnetic coil 5, or by radially mobile clamping claws (Figure 5, not shown) in the case of a workpiece of non-magnetic material. <IMAGE> |
