PRODUCTION OF POLYETHYLENE TEREPHTHALATE MONOFILAMENT

PURPOSE:To obtain the titled monofilaments having a high linear tensile tenacity with little variation thereof, by drawing and heat-treating undrawn polyethylene terephthalate monofilaments under respective specific conditions. CONSTITUTION:Undrawn polyethylene terephthalate monofilaments are first drawn under wet heat conditions of 85-100 deg.C, for example in steam atmosphere at 2-2.5 times draw ratio, drawn in a gaseous atmosphere at 200-300 deg.C at 2- 4 times draw ratio and then heat-treated in a gaseous atmosphere at 200-300 deg.C and 1-0.9 winding ratio.
