PURPOSE:To reduce the size of the stabilizer and reduce the weight of a compact-type fluorescent lamp, which is formed by placing an inner envelope inside an outer envelope and has a meander groove working as a discharging path, by igniting the lamp by using one of the electrodes as an anode. CONSTITUTION:An inner envelope 3 is placed inside an outer envelope 2 to form an emission encircling case 1'. The inner envelope 3' is provided with a meander groove 7 working as a discharge path and electrodes are placed in both ends of the groove 7. Next, after the inner surface of the groove 7 is coated with a phosphor 14, mercury and a rare gas are charged thereby constituting a compact-type fluorescent lamp. Here, an electrode 8' which is one of the above electrodes and consisting of a simple member not having a coil-like form, is directly attached to a bottom lid 5 made of a metallic material. The electrode 8' is used as an anode when igniting the lamp by a d.c. ignition system. As a result, the size and the weight of the lamp can be reduced by using a resistance 17 as the stabilizer. Additionally, it is possible to obtain a lamp in which no flickering occurs by preventing any cataphoresis. |
