The appts. (1,2) gives a negative signal in response to a breath test from a driver where the alcohol content is below a specific level, and a positive signal where it exceeds that level. A start relay (11) is connected between the car battery (16) and the starter motor (17), so that where a negative signal is given the current circuit to the starter motor is closed. Where a positive signal is forthcoming, the circuit remains open. The start relay (11) is connected at a minimum distance from the positive pole of the battery, and both relay and battery positive pole are encapsulated in a protective cover (15) to prevent illegal coupling. A cable connecting the downstream side of the start relay with the car starter motor has an uninsulated part (12), and a plastic casing movable on the cable which in the normal position protects the uninsulated part. The signal cables (10) between the algometer (1) and the start relay (11) are contained in a steel casing covered in plastic. |
