PURPOSE:To enhance stability with the elapse of time at the time of standing still, using a copolymer consisting of a specific amount of an unsaturated carboxylic acid monomer or a salt thereof, a methacrylic ester monomer and an unsaturated aromatic monomer as a dispersant. CONSTITUTION:A usual polymerization initiator is added to three components of 65-94mol% of an unsaturated carboxylic acid monomer, 5-30mol% of a methacrylic ester monomer and 1-5mol% of an unsaturated aromatic monomer to perform polymerization in water at 40-100 deg.C for 5-10hr. After the completion of polymerization, the reaction mixture is neutralized by aqueous ammonia to obtain a copolymer with viscosity (40% aqueous solution) of 10-10,000CP. This copolymer is useful as the dispersant of oxide for ceramics and used as the dispersant in an amount of 0.05-2%, more pref. 0.15-1% by wt. of oxide on a solid basis. |
