Novel filaments were prepd. by addn. of divalent metal compds. (e.g. Ca or Zn soluble salt, by 0.01-0.2 mole to acryl onitrile unit mole) to a 0.5-15 wt.% soln. of polyacrylonitrile or 15 wt.% of acrylonitrile copolymer of comonomer (mean mol. wt. is 0.3 - 10x106) , converted into filaments contg. solvent at high temp., cooled in tolune, dichloromethane, water or its mixt., after which the solvent and metal compds. were eliminated, and they were stretched.
