PURPOSE:To increase the number repeated uses and to enhance printing quality, by constituting an ink ribbon for thermal melting transfer with a base material, an ink layer and the porous separation layer provided so as to be separated from the base material. CONSTITUTION:A colloidal solution having a water-soluble component suspended therein is applied to an ink layer 2 formed on a base material 1 and, after drying, the whole is immersed in water 6 to obtain a separation layer 3 having minute pores 7 formed thereto on the ink layer 2. In performing thermal transfer using thus formed ink ribbon, that part of ink layer 2 heated by a thermal head 8 is melted to be transferred to the surface of paper 9 through the pores 7 of the separation layer 3 to perform printing. By continuously passing the ink ribbon 4 after printing between a pair of heating rollers 10, the ink is supplied to the ink detached part 11 on the separation layer 3 from the lower ink layer 2 through the pores 7 and, therefore, reuse is enabled. |
