The invention relates to a manuscript holder having a feed device, consisting of an electric motor and a cable pull, for a line indicator which is displaceable along one edge of the lectern board supporting the manuscript, wherein the cable pull guided over deflection rollers and a drive roller is arranged along said edge, wherein the line indicator is cut into the cable pull with one end in such a way that it is interrupted at the point receiving the line indicator and is connected by both its ends to the line indicator, and wherein the drive roller is coupled directly to the electric motor arranged on the rear of the lectern board. The feed device is covered by a simple, fitted-together housing, and it is possible for lectern boards of different sizes to be combined exchangeably with the housing.
