In a compression refrigerating installation, use is made of, instead of the units requiring an external energy supply for conveying cooling air for the liquefier (12) and/or refrigerant for the evaporator (14), flow machines (18) with a fan (20) on the driven side, the inlet (22) of which is connected to the pressure side and the outlet (24) of which is connected to the suction side of the compressor (10). Otherwise usual energy sources (generators, batteries) and refrigerating capacity regulating devices are thus eliminated as the flow machines (18) are driven directly by compressed refrigerant which is present anyway and the compression refrigerating installation regulates itself. <IMAGE>
