PURPOSE:To measure stably the temp. of a molten metal by estimating the build-up height from the surface of a static molten metal from the concn. of carbon in the molten metal and the kind and amt. of bottom blowing gas and immersing a sub-lance probe to the depth of the region where the waveform of the molten metal temp. is stable. CONSTITUTION:The build-up height DELTAh1 on the molten metal surface by bottom blowing gas is determined from the concn. of carbon in the molten metal when a sub-lance probe is charged therein, and the kind and amt. of bottom blowing gas. The build-up height DELTAh2 of the molten metal by periodic oscillation is determined. The above-mentioned two heights are combined and the resulting build-up height DELTAh=DELTAh1+DELTAh2 is determined and the molten metal surface under blowing is estimated. The sub-lance probe is lowered under the estimated surface and this depth is adjusted within the range where the waveform of the molten metal temp. obtd. from operating conditions is stable. The molten metal temp. during blowing in a converter is thus stably measured. |
