PURPOSE:To improve the sharpness and to reduce fog by incorporating a speci fied coupler and a compound which reacts with the oxidized product of an aromatic primary amine developing agent but does not form a dye. CONSTITUTION:A coupler having a dye part with the maximum absorption wavelength shifted to the shorter wavelength wide by bond which is cleaved optionally through a timing group by a coupling reaction with the oxidized product of an aromatic primary amine developing agent and producing a compound having a dye part with the maximum absorption wavelength before the shift as the result of the reaction and a compound which reacts with the oxidized product of the aromatic primary amine developing agent but does not form a dye are incorporated into a sensitive material. The coupler is represented by formula I [where Cp is a residue of a coupler capable of releasing (-TIME-)nX-Dye by a coupling reaction with the oxidized product of an aromatic primary amine developing agent, TIME is a timing group, n is 0 or a positive integer, Dye is a residue of a dye and X is an auxochrome residue of the dye]. Thus, a sensitive material having improved sharpness and hardly causing fog is obtd. |
