<p>To allow for small mesh stringing at the centre of a large face racket without increasing the weight, the frame is made of a core member 2 of foamed plastic and a covering structural member 3. The structural member 3 is composed of fibre-reinforced layers 4 with a greater number of layers 4 on the outside of the frame to increase its strength. The strings 7 are protected by a peripheral groove 9 in the frame. A surface layer 12 of synthetic resin or enamel covers the member 3 and equalizes the internal and external thicknesses.</p> |
