PURPOSE:To prevent generation of Barkhausen noise by inclining the axis of easy magnetization in a magneto-resistance effect element at a specific angle with the longitudinal direction of the magneto-resistance effect element. CONSTITUTION:The direction of the axis of easy magnetization in the magneto- resistance effect element (MR element) 2 of a yoke type thin film magnetic head is inclined 10 deg. clockwise with the longitudinal direction of the MR element. A weak magnetic field in an arrow mark direction is, therefore, impressed by ferromagnetic films 3, 3 to the MR element 2. An angle dispersion is generated in the direction of the axis of easy magnetization thereof. Supposing that the angle dispersion is about + or -10 deg., the angle dispersion is distributed in a 0-20 deg. range with the longitudinal direction of the MR element in the entire region thereof. The generation point of discontinuous peak can thus be moved to either positive or negative side in the magnetic field Ha corresponding to a signal magnetic field and the magnetization switching is preventable if the operation point verging on the side having the discontinuous leaps is moved. The generation of the Barkhousen noise is thereby averted. |
