Swimming pool purification using bio-catalyst

In a method for sanitising swimming pool water, which includes circulating the water through a filter and returning it to the pool, improvement comprises passing the filtered water through a stationary bed of a porous biocatalyst. The bed consists of a layer of biocatalyst between layers of filter aid. The biocatalyst is the reaction product of a finely divided mixt. of a basic Ag. cpd. C or silica particles and znO, Al2O3, Al hydroxide, Bi trioxide, MgO and TiO2. The pH of the water in the system is maintained above 7, and the temp. at 70-98 degrees F.
